Going into listening to this project, I must admit, I didn’t expect to get what I got from it. I was well aware of the skill T.Y. possessed (as I’d seen and heard it before), but putting together a full body of work is no easy task. It was immediately and abundantly clear that he had taken his time with this, and it did not disappoint.
T.Y.'s album "Sinner's Prayer" is a deeply introspective album that explores themes of sin, redemption, and personal struggles. With its 14 songs and a running time just over 40 minutes, the album showcases T.Y.'s talent for crafting complex verses, infectious hooks, and hard-hitting beats that harken back to Minnesota hip hop roots while also falling in line with modern day hip hop.

What I love about this album is that T.Y. doesn't shy away from the darker moments in his life on his journey towards finding redemption. On tracks like "Demon" featuring fellow musical powerhouse P Will, he speaks on his dark side, letting the listener know he won’t hesitate to go there if necessary. Meanwhile, on "Ghetto Stories" featuring JonRay, he tells a cautionary tale of what happens when he’s owed or crossed, while JonRay slides in like a demon himself weaving in and out of the high BPM.
But it's not all doom and gloom on "Sinner's Prayer". There are also moments of optimism and hope, such as on "No Girlfriends" featuring Ty$tick, where T.Y. reflects on the importance of focusing on himself over the distractions that can come with the money and fame in the music business stating it costs $1,000 just to meet him.

Overall, T.Y.'s "Sinner's Prayer" is an album that will resonate with anyone who has experienced dark times in their lives. The music is raw, honest, and authentic, and showcases T.Y.'s talent as both a rapper and a storyteller.
Don’t overlook T.Y. as one of the better artists in Minneapolis as he proved he is JUST THAT. Go listen to the project and see for yourself.
